Betty R. James, 93

EAST LIVERPOOL – Betty R. James, 93, of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Calcutta Health Care Center.

Born on May 29, 1931, in East Liverpool, Betty was the daughter of the late Clyde E. and Madora S. Lockhart McGaffic. A lifelong resident of this community, she dedicated over 33 years of service to Homer Laughlin China Company, retiring in 1993. Betty was deeply involved in her faith, having been a longtime member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church, where she served as a Trustee and was active in the Joy Class and PPR. More recently, she found fellowship while attending Northside Community Church.

A graduate of East Liverpool High School, Betty cherished her ties to her alma mater and regularly attended the Olde Guard luncheons through the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association. She was also a member of the GMP Union.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph W. Wood, Sr.; her second husband, Delbert Williams; and her third husband, William "Billy" James. She was also predeceased by her two daughters, Christine L. Wood and Vicki Lynn Gilchrist, and her siblings, Norma Fry, Karen Taylor, Evelyn DeBee, Robert McGaffic, Allen E. McGaffic, and C. Glenn McGaffic.

Left to carry on her legacy are her two sons, Ralph W. Wood, Jr. and his wife Melissa of East Liverpool, and Kyle Eric Wood and his wife Julie of Marblehead, Ohio. She is also survived by her seven beloved grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Larry Rose of Northside Community Church, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
