CALCUTTA, OHIO – Chester B. Channels, 91, of Calcutta passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.

Chester was born in West Virginia on March 13, 1932 a son of the late Samuel and Phoebe (Rose) Channels. He was a veteran of the Army proudly serving during the Korean War. Chester retired from Crucible Steel and opened his own blacksmith business Channels Horse Shoeing. He enjoyed going to auctions and was an avid supporter of the Rogers Sale. Chester enjoyed his horses and going hunting.

Preceding Chester in death were his wife Carolyn R. (Sadler) Channels and brother Lawrence Channels.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Diane K. Clarke; son Kenneth C. "Kenny" Channels and his wife Diana; six grandchildren Summer Kaltenbach and companion Dave Hundorfean, Brock Kaltenbach, Isaac Kaltenbach and his wife Aimee, Taylor Saunders, D.J. Hawk and his wife Julie and Dustin Channels and his companion Lori; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister Mary Alford and companion Anne Conkle.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday where the family will be present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pastor Larry Rose of Northside Community Church will conduct a service at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will perform military honors.
