Mogadore, Ohio- David Jay Hillyer, 71, of Virgil Street passed away Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at 4:41p.m. at his residence following a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 2nd, 1953 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late James Harry and June Eileen Phillips Hillyer.

He was retired from the Georgia Pacific Company in Akron, Ohio in 2012. At one time he worked at Hall China as a jiggerman then at the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania and also at the Beaver Valley Nuclear Plant for 8 years as a security guard.

David was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1971. He loved to camp and listen to music of any kind. Above all else, he loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Anderson Hillyer, whom he married June 26th, 1976. There are two daughters, Melissa Roe and her husband, Timothy "Matt" of North Canton, Ohio and Shawna McCaman and her husband, Adam of Mogadore.

In addition, he leaves behind five grandchildren, Alicia Roe and her fiancé, Tyler, Ashley Ehritz and her husband, Jason, Kera June Hillyer, Tristyn McCaman, and Piper McCaman; and three great-grandchildren, Amelia Rose, Lincoln Tate, and Penelope June.

Two brothers also survive, Jerry L. Hillyer of Boardman, Ohio, and Dale D. Hillyer of Youngstown Ohio.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. A private family service will be held.

Burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery.
