Jun 13, 1950 — Nov 17, 2024
David V. Humphrey, 74
EAST LIVERPOOL – David V. Humphrey, a resident of Calcutta, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2024, at the age of 74.
Born on June 13, 1950, in East Liverpool, David was a son of the late Harry Humphrey and Carol Sue Chronister Creel. A proud graduate of Beaver Local High School, Class of 1968, Dave was a member of the football team. He went on to earn his degree from Youngstown State University, which paved the way for a successful career at the GM Lordstown Plant, where he served as a general manager in the body shop for over three decades. Following his retirement, he worked at the Newell Bridge as a toll taker.
Dave enjoyed his life, especially when it came to the game of golf. He was devoted to his Monday and Wednesday golf leagues and eagerly traveled south during the winter with family and friends to pursue his love for the sport.
David's greatest pride and source of joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cynthia McElhaney Humphrey, whom he married on August 15, 1970. Three cherished children survive: Brandy Barborak and her husband, Nick, Jayci Humphrey, and Amy Humphrey. Dave was also the beloved grandfather to two adoring granddaughters, Audrey and Abby. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Nesselrotte and her husband, Jason, of Lisbon.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his sister, Chris Bowersock; brother, Kenny Humphrey; and stepfather, Raymond Creel.
