Donald Brice Owens, 90
LISBON, OH – Donald Brice Owens passed away Monday evening, September 2, 2024, at Continuing Healthcare in Lisbon following a lengthy illness. He was 90.
Born in Mars, Pennsylvania, on May 23, 1934, Don was a son of the late Ray Donald Owens and Margaret Forsythe Owens. He graduated from Mars High School in 1952 and went on to earn a degree from the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and completed a co-op with Fisher Body, launching his career in the automotive industry.
Don made his home in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where he worked as an engineer for both General Motors and Ford. He also worked as a professor at GMI (General Motors Institute). He was also the Director of Engineering at Wisne Design (PICO).
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Don was deeply devoted to his faith. He was ordained as a minister and served as a bishop and high priest at the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, touching many lives with his wisdom and compassion.
In 2021, Don suffered the loss of his beloved wife, Donna Jean Owens. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Sue Hasley.
Don leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold his memory in their hearts: his two sons, Dr. Scott Owens and his wife, Clare, of Columbiana, Ohio, and Mark Owens and his wife, Angie, of Wappingers Falls, New York. He was a proud grandfather to Heather Bird, Mark Brice Owens, Grant Owens, and Lauren Owens and great-grandfather to Haleigh, Nora, Margot, Morgan and Evelyn. Don is also survived by his sister, Susan McClelland, and her husband, James, of Huntington, West Virginia.
A graveside service and burial will be held at Cross Roads Cemetery in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home.
The Owens family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Crossroads Assisted Living, Continuing Healthcare and Buckeye Hospice for the compassionate and loving care they provided.
