NEGLEY, OHIO – Emma May (Stanley) Cooper, 86, of Negley, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Calcutta Health Care Center.

Emma was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 1, 1939. She attended Columbia Bible College and taught Bible at Bluefield Schools in West Virginia. Emma was first and foremost a devoted Christian serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a wonderful friend, counselor and mentor, truly being an example of Titus 2:3-5 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. Emma is remembered by her kind, quiet, loving heart, her beautiful smile, her sense of humor and her devotion to God. She truly embraced how the Bible tells us a wife should be. Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Emma was her husband's right hand and truly was a loving and devoted wife.

Preceding Emma in death were three sisters Edna, Gloria and Mary and brother Bobby.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, whom she married February 23, 1973, Don Cooper; sister Betty and many loving friends.

A private service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home.
