OHIOVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA – Ernest A. "Big E" Johnson, Sr., 65, of Ohioville, PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.

Ernie was born October 2, 1959, in New Brighton, PA a son of the late Harvey and Eleanor (Dixon) Johnson.

Ernie was a graduate of New Brighton Area High School Class of 1977. He was the owner and operator of East End Lumber and previously worked as a general contractor since he was 13 years old. Ernie was an active member of Church of New Beginnings. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ernie was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his kids and especially his wife on their many trips to Florida.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, whom he married July 21, 1979, Susan (Carcaise) Johnson; daughter Amanda Grimm and her husband Harry; two sons Ernest A. Johnson, Jr. and Adam C. Johnson and his wife Amber; four grandchildren Caleb Bellville, Evelynn Bellville, Oliver Bellville and Ivar; sister Candaline Moore and her companion Jim Smith; brother Gary Johnson and his wife Roni; brother-in-law Russ Moore and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. His son, Rev. Adam C. Johnson of Church of New Beginnings will conduct a funeral service Monday 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Highland Cemetery in Ohioville, PA.

Immediately following the service, the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.

Ernie's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lori Bigi and Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care and compassion they provided to Ernie. They would also like to thank Adam Watkins for all of his help at home and work.
