Jun 20, 1926 — Sep 28, 2026
Frank P. Hanselman, 100
Frank P. Hanselman, 100, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully Monday, September 28, 2026, at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville.
Frank was born June 20, 1926, in East Liverpool, a son of the late John T. and Emma Cooper Hanselman. A proud veteran of World War II, Frank served his country in the United States Army and later served in the Merchant Marines. During his time in the Merchant Marines, Frank enjoyed boxing and proudly earned the Golden Gloves award.
Following his years of service, Frank worked as an electrician with Signode Company in Weirton, where he dedicated 28 years of his life before retiring in 1988. Frank and his beloved wife, Mossie, enjoyed nearly 40 years of retirement together. They loved to travel and made many wonderful memories along the way. Frank and Mossie were longtime members of the Tri-County Square Dancers, and Saturday nights often found the couple at the Moose Lodge, where they enjoyed dancing the polka. Their love of dancing, travel and good times with friends was an important part of their lives together.
Frank was also an avid golfer and during his many years on the golf course, he achieved the remarkable accomplishment of recording four holes-in-one. He continued to golf well into his 90s, playing until his health no longer allowed him to do so at the age of 94. Frank was a member of Moose Lodge #122 and AARP.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mossie D. Hanselman. Surviving are his daughters, Paula Vespro, Helen Edgell and Amy Williams and her husband, Kevin; and his sons, John L. Hanselman (Deb) Frank I. Hanselman (Jill), Jack D. Hanselman, and Mark A. Hanselman (Wina). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Frank was preceded in death by his son Timothy Hanselman, son-in-law, Keith Edgell; his beloved dog, Maggie; and his siblings, Lucille, Nellie, Ellen, Emma Jean, Dorothy and John.
His family will gather privately to remember his life. The Dawson Funeral Home is honored to assist the Hanselman family.
