Obituary

Geneva Mae Meredith, 96

EAST LIVERPOOL – Geneva Mae Meredith, 96, of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 19, 2025, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born on February 13, 1929, in Middlebourne, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel T. and Rhea Fox Lough. A devoted homemaker, she was also a longtime member of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ.

Geneva found great joy in spending several months each year at the family's farmhouse in West Virginia, where she embraced the beauty of country life. She had a passion for sewing, creating baby clothes, and restoring chairs alongside her husband. She also enjoyed crafting and collecting dolls, particularly making Cabbage Patch dolls. In addition, she sold World Book Encyclopedias for several years.

A talented cook, Geneva was known for her famous potato salad, a staple at family weddings, holidays, and gatherings. She was adventurous at heart, never shying away from an opportunity to explore. She loved taking side-by-side rides on the farm and meandering along old country roads—her last ride at the age of 94 lasted over six hours, and she was eager to keep going. Whether traveling on little trips or simply enjoying the front porch swing at the farmhouse, Geneva cherished life's simple pleasures.

More than anything, she was a woman of deep faith and unwavering love for her husband and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Lorman "Bud" Meredith, whom she married on April 30, 1949, as well as her daughter, Beverly Meredith, and four grandchildren, Jerry Lyle, Emily Monte, Jody Lasure and Janci Hanlon. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lester Lough and Raymond Lough.

Geneva is survived by her daughter, Pamela Meredith of East Liverpool, and two sons, Roger Meredith and his wife, Anita, of East Liverpool, and D. Jeff Meredith and his wife, Debra, of Covington, Ohio. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will receive guests from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m.
