Obituary

Elaine McCoy, 76

East Liverpool – Gladys "Elaine" McCoy, of East Liverpool, passed away at University Hospitals Main Campus on October 30, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born in East Liverpool, Elaine was the daughter of the late Orval E. McDole Jr. and Gladys McKinnon. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a proud 1968 graduate of East Liverpool High School and attended Ohio Valley Business School.

Elaine was employed at First National Bank before dedicating 30 years of her career to the local newspaper industry. She eventually retired as office manager, overseeing all three local newspapers: The Review, Morning Journal, and Salem News. Her years of dedication and service made her a familiar part of the local community. She was also a dedicated member of Orioles Nest #169, where she served as bookkeeper.

Elaine enjoyed flower gardening, taking particular pleasure tending to her roses. Above all, she cherished her family and treasured the time she spent with them. Known for her sweet nature and resilience, Elaine's love for her family was evident in the care and devotion she showed throughout her life. Following the passing of their daughter, Amy, Elaine and her husband, Marvin, lovingly cared for and helped raise Amy's young children.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Amy Reed on February 3, 2011.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Marvin McCoy, whom she married on February 2, 1974; her daughter, Kimberly Baker (Rich); and her grandchildren, Taylor Reed, Brock Reed (Jackie), Logan Reed (Paige), Haileigh Ketchum, Hillarie Bost (Jason), and Jackson Ketchum. She also leaves behind a great-grandchild, the child of Logan and Paige, expected in March.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Following the visitation, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
