CHESTER, WV – Jack Herron, Jr., 54, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Valley Hospice Care Center North.

Jack was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on December 24, 1970. He worked as a contractor since he was 11 years old with his father at VanDyke Enterprises. Jack loved gardening and growing flowers.

Preceding Jack in death was his father Jack Herron, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother Milica VanDyke and her husband Donald; daughter Emily (Herron) Potts; son Howard Herron; brother Wesley VanDyke; two sisters Kimberly Herron and Susan VanDyke; niece Kimberly Beatty and nephew Luke Beatty.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Rico Brown will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial at Locust Hill Cemetery.

Following the service the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
