James T. Cheeks Sr., 71

EAST LIVERPOOL– James T. "Jim" Cheeks, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 71 years old.

Born in East Liverpool, Jim was the son of the late Robert A. and Imelda Cheeks. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, Class of 1972, and worked as a heavy equipment operator at Penn Power until his retirement. Jim coached baseball and football and enjoyed learning about history, especially the Civil War and World Wars I and II. He was an avid Steelers fan and loved listening to classic rock, particularly the Beatles. He appreciated the simple pleasures of spending time at home, surrounded by the people and things he enjoyed. Jim always had a smile on his face, a great sense of humor, and was always quick with a sarcastic comeback.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa "Terri" Cheeks, whom he married on August 24, 1974, and his sister, Elizabeth Cheeks.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jennifer Tice, and her husband, Shaun; his son, James T. Cheeks Jr.; and his grandchildren, Ava Cheeks, Jordyn McGouryk, Kamryn Tice, and Landyn Tice. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert C. Cheeks.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
