Melanie K. "Mel" Balser, 68

EAST LIVERPOOL – Melanie K. Balser, of LaCroft, passed away Friday morning, November 1, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital following a brief illness. She was 68 years old.

Born in East Liverpool, October 28, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Ellis Lee White and Mary B. Springer White. A lifetime resident of the area, she graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1975. Mel worked for several area companies and last worked as a teller at Home Savings in East Liverpool until her retirement. She loved her cats, camping at Guilford Lake and sitting on her front porch waving to friends passing by. Above all things in life, she loved her family and close friends the most. She was especially close and proud of her niece, Abby Caldwell, and nephew, Jesse Smith, who both call her "Grammaw."

She is survived by her loving husband, John F. Balser, at home. The couple married on August 26, 1977. She is also survived by four sisters, Mary Lee Ludwig and her husband, Lesley, of East Liverpool, Michelle Miller and her husband, Jason, of Pittsburgh, Traci Davis and her husband, Bret, of East Liverpool, and Billie Jo Smith and her husband, Rob, of East Liverpool, and two brothers, Mitchell White and his wife, Cheryl of Missouri, and Benjamin White and his wife, Candi, of East Liverpool. Her memory will also be cherished by her many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Rev. Mark Blakeley will conduct a funeral service Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
