East Liverpool, Ohio- Richard S. "Rick" Cable, 75, of Old Fredericktown Road passed away on his birthday Monday, November 28th, 2022 at 9:54 p.m. at the UPMC – Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania following a sudden illness.

Born November 28th, 1947 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late Richard G. Cable and the late Margaret H. Givens Cable. A lifetime area resident, he retired from the Lordstown GM Plant after 33 years of service.

A graduate of Wellsville High School Class of 1965, he then served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge #1040 and was a seventh degree black belt. Rick taught karate locally since 1985 teaching most recently at the First Free Methodist Church in East Liverpool. For many years he competed in the International Irish Cup Tournament which is held in Dublin, Ireland where he placed second during one tournament.

He is survived by one daughter, Melanie Husoveck and her husband, Phil of East Liverpool, Ohio; and one son, Richard G. "Rick" Cable and his wife, April of Mingo Junction, Ohio. There are seven grandchildren, Kelsey Husoveck, Micah Husoveck, Jake Dowsett, Ryan Dowsett, Chaz Dowsett, Rachelle Cable and Nicole Cable.

He also leaves behind one sister, Cheryl Wood and her husband, Tom of East Liverpool, Ohio.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Norm Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Tri-State veterans Burial Group.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
