Robert Lloyd Hamilton, 73, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Boardman, Ohio, passed away at HCA West Marion Hospital on August 21, 2026 in Ocala, Florida.

Robert was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to Robert and Roberta Hamilton (Dallas) on October 5, 1952.

He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1971, and went on to earn an Associates Degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University. For over 30 years he worked as an engineer for several companies that serviced the steel industry, known for his work ethic and meticulous approach. That same spirit carried into his life at home, always ready to help a friend or family member with a project, no matter the size. For himself, his favorite hobby was rebuilding and restoring specialty cars with his latest project being a much-loved and much-admired 1956 Cameo pickup truck.

Robert is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Jean of Ocala and daughter Janice and her life partner of over 20 years, Matt Whitler. He also is survived by two nephews and a niece, Jeff Miller (Lisa) of Sheffield Village, OH; Billy Helfrich and his life partner of over 30 years, Jaime Seachrist; and Deborah Helfrich. Robert was also survived by his brother-in-law Bill Helfrich, two great nieces Lindsey and Ava, and many other cousins and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert and mother, Roberta, and sisters Roberta Ann and Nancy.

No formal services will be held in Ocala, FL with a private graveside service at a later date in East Liverpool at Columbiana County Memorial Park cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Robert.
