Walter D. Golden, 93

EAST LIVERPOOL – Walter D. Golden, of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday evening, January 18, 2024, at Heritage Valley Beaver. He was 93.

Born in Irondale, November 12, 1930, he was a son of the late Elmer and Margaret Dallas Golden. A resident of this area all his life, he worked for the former Ohio Bell as a testman until retiring after 38 years of service. A member of the Irondale High School Class of 1948, he served with the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Walter held membership in the American Legion and the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed woodworking and held life membership in the Handyman Club of North America as well as the North American Hunt Club. He attended Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean A. Chadwick Golden, on November 15, 2012. The couple married May 30, 1958. He was also preceded by three sisters, Dora Ernst, Alice Zoller and Jean Bender.

Survivors include his children: two daughters, Cindy Golden and Penny Heaton and her husband, Craig, all of East Liverpool, and two grandchildren: Christopher Heaton and Nicholas Heaton and his fiancée Courtney Collins.

There is a sister surviving, Margaret Hutton, as well as a brother, William "Bud" Golden and his wife, Francie, along with many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Bill Wagner will conduct a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church for fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, 1817 Montana Ave., East Liverpool.
