EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – William "Gipp" Gipson, 77, of East Liverpool passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2023 at Valley Oaks Care Center.

William was born in Hazard, Kentucky on October 16, 1946 a son of the late Ike and Iona (Hoag) Gipson. He was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving during the Vietnam War. He worked at Crucible Steel then at LTV Steel. William loved playing slot machines and enjoyed listening to music especially rhythm and blues. He loved to do puzzles and singing. William was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He loved his family especially his nieces and nephews.

Preceding Gipp in death was his sister Leola Bailey; brother Haze Gipson; four nephews Dennis, Miller Jr., Benny and Kevin and special companion of 50 years Ethel Chavis.

William leaves to cherish his memory his brother Benford Gipson; five nieces Wanda (Gerald), Rose (Mitchell), Majeedah, Nekoyia and Carla; two nephews Ricky and Russell; stepson Chris Chavis; step granddaughter Arian Parson; lifelong friend Marjorie Byrd and a host of family and friends.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday where the family will be present from 10 to 11 a.m. Evangelist Rico Brown of Virginia Avenue Church of Christ will conduct a service at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial at Spring Grove Cemetery where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors.
