Obituary for Robert Wendell Torrence

Robert W. Torrence, of East Liverpool, passed away at the Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville following a lengthy illness. He was 80.

Born in East Liverpool, July 16, 1933, he was a son of the late Walter Torrence and Myrtle Kirk Torrence. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1952, he lived in Los Angeles, California, for many years until returning to this area in 2002.

He was a Military Police Officer with the U.S. Army in Germany until his discharge in 1958. He graduated from the Azusa Community College in California, and then worked in the medical records department as an administrator at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Los Angeles County.

Survivors include his sister, Bonnie Miller of East Liverpool, and two brothers, Richard F. Torrence of Nevada, and Walter Torrence, Jr. of Oregon. He is also survived by his longtime friend Victor R. Rodriguez of California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Cottrill, as well as three brothers, Warren “Joe” Torrence, Merle Torrence and Billie B. Torrence.

Arrangements were conducted by the Dawson Funeral Home, which have been completed.
