Obituary for James Robert Watson

James Robert Watson, 75, of Clark Avenue, Wellsville, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014, at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a brief stay.

He was born in Portland, Ohio on February 23, 1939, a son of the late William Watson and the late Helen Cornell Delong.

Having attended Wellsville High School, Jim then served in the U.S. Navy.

For many years, he was a Supervisor with the former Sterling China Company, retiring in 2001. He was also a member of the former Wellsville Nazarene Church.

Surviving him at home is his wife, Emily Johnson Watson, whom he married in 1961. Jim also leaves behind his daughter, Nita K. Malone, of Wellsville, and his grandson, Zachary James Malone, and his fiancé Michelle Thrasher, of Wellsville, as well as a great-grandson, Colton James Malone. He is also survived by his beloved pets Pearl and Gracie.

He is survived by a friend Barry Malone, of Toronto,and his golfing buddy, Bud Green, as well as his two sisters, Mary Jo Tanley, of Urichsville, and Ruth Ann Dysert, of Wellsville. He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Jean Mercer.

The Dawson Funeral Home is entrusted with Jim’s care.
