Obituary for Loretta L. Barker (Hanlon)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Loretta “Pinky” Barker, 62, of Irish Ridge Road., in East Liverpool, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Salem Community Hospital in Salem, OH.

She was a daughter of the late Leonard and Lillian Baker Hanlon and was born in East Liverpool on April 13, 1951. “Pinky” attended the Avondale Baptist Church and was a 1969 graduate of East Liverpool High School.

She had worked for the Tri Ridge Company at one time and had a tended bar for the Chat and Chew, the Tangerine Lounge and The Hilltop. “Pinky” was also a licensed cosmetologist. Her love of cooking resulted in her family affectionately considering her the best cook in East Liverpool.

Surviving is her husband, Dennis M. Barker, Sr.; her four sons, Dennis M. Barker, Jr., and his wife Jackie, Lonnie L. Barker, and his wife Valerie, Daniel A. Barker, and his wife Nicole, and William B. Barker, all of East Liverpool. Also surviving are her step-children, Laura Dawes, of Minerva, Kristy Barker of Wellsville, and James E. Barker and his wife Jackie, of East Liverpool.

“Pinky” will be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren and one step great-grandson. She is also survived by a brother, Leonard Hanlon, II, of Wellsville.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded by a brother Lonnie L. Hanlon.

Friends may visit Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Terry Weyand of the church will conduct a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
