Obituary for Willie D. Gilliam (Ingram)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Mrs. Willie D. Gilliam passed away Wednesday morning, February 4, 2015 at the home she shared with her daughter on Denver Street in East Liverpool. Willie was 79.

Born in Decatur, AL on December 31, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Helen Coons Ingram. She had come to the East Liverpool area in 2008, but had spent most of her life in the Weirton area. For over 30 years, she had been employed in housekeeping at the Weirton Medical Center. At one time, she had been a teachers aid in Union, SC at the Carlisle Headstart.

Willie was a faithful member of the Greater Miracle Ministries in Aliquippa, PA and shared her faith through the many acts of loving kindness she showed to others – especially her family.

Preceding her in death in 2007 was her husband, Alonzo Gilliam.

She is survived by five daughters and two sons: Cindy Coons, with whom she resided; Sylvia Mills and her husband, Perry, of Newport News, VA; Brenda Young and her husband, Johnson, of Steubenville; Renee Walker of Cary, NC; Joy Grim of San Antonio, TX; Larry Gilliam of Weirton; and Anthony Gilliam and his wife, Jean, of Union, SC. Willie is also survived by, two God daughters, Mary Phillips of Aliquippa, PA and Alice Fisher of Baden, PA

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, along with a sister, Beatrice Thompson of Weirton and a brother, William Gilchrist of Cortland, AL, as well as her beloved friends Dorothy Lee of Weirton, WV, and Virginia Gardener of Union, SC.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

Pastor Laneer Fisher of the church in Aliquippa will officiate at a service to be held at noon on Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will follow the service at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Following the burial friends and family will share a luncheon and a continued time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
