Obituary for Loretta F. Cook (Barney)

LORETTA F. COOK, 75

EAST LIVERPOOL – Loretta F. Cook, of Prospect Street, East Liverpool, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Heritage Valley Hospice in Beaver, with her son, Tony, at her side. She had been ill for quite some time.

She was born in Midland, PA, on February 6, 1940, a daughter of the late Peter and Albina Donatella Barney, and was a 1958 graduate of Midland High School.

Loretta retired in 2002 from Homer Laughlin China, where she had been a Fiestaware dipper. She loved bowling in her younger years, and belonged to St. John Lutheran Church.

Preceding her in death on March 18, 2010 was her husband, James A. Cook, whom she married on June 14, 1958.

Surviving is her son, Anthony P. “Tony” Cook, Sr. of East Liverpool, along with four grandchildren: Sarah Cook of York, PA; and Stephanie Hudson, Margaret Elizabeth Cook and Anthony P. Cook, Jr., all of East Liverpool. There are also three great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Aubrey and Alice.

Also surviving are three brothers: Anthony Barney and his wife, Deloris, of Lisbon; Pete Barney and his wife, Patty, of Ohioville; and Joe Barney and his wife, Sheila, also of Ohioville.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her son Timothy J. Cook, who died on December 10, 2006. Two sisters, Rose Presutti and Anita Fry, also preceded her.

Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. Eric Edwards of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery, after which time the family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.
