Obituary for Barbara A. Reed (Brown)

Barbara A. Reed, of Forest Hills Drive, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the East Liverpool City Hospital. She was 68.

Born in East Liverpool, April 13, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Chester M. and Lillian “Lynne” Price Brown. She was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1965, and attended Kent State University. For many years she lived in Midland, Michigan, as well as Cowbridge, South Wales, England and Elizabethtown, Kentucky. In 1999, she returned to East Liverpool where she and her husband retired.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she was the head of the Missions Committee, lay member to the East Ohio Annual Conference, and chairperson of the Staff Parish Relations Committee. She was also active in the Helen Gould Literary Club, Monday Literary Club and Tuesday Morning Duplicate Bridge Club.

Her husband, Ralph C. Reed, survives at home. The couple married July 1, 1967. Together they had two children: a daughter, Amy Manolio and her husband, Anthony, of Canfield, and a son, Gregory Reed and his wife, Heather, of Orlando, Florida along with one granddaughter Zoey Reed of Orlando

She also leaves her only sister, Marjorie “Marge” Ash of East Liverpool, as well as a niece Lindsay Ash of Los Angeles and many cousins.

She also will be fondly remembered by the Hedlund family originally from Michigan to whom she remained very close and who referred to her as “Grammie Barb”: Amanda and Danny Rains, and their children: Avery and Reagan, and Randy and Becky Hedlund, and their children: Gavin, Ady, Finn, Amelia and Ainsley.

Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Larry S. Hukill of the church will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
