Obituary for Jeannette Bell (Bell)

MS. JEANNETTE BELL, 70

EAST LIVERPOOL – Ms. Jeannette Bell passed peacefully from this life into the next at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman. Jeannette, who had resided on Chaffin Street in East Liverpool for many years, was 70.

A daughter of the late Less and Mattie Hammond Coleman Bell, Jeannette and her twin sister, Janet, were born on October 6, 1945 in East Liverpool. A 1964 graduate of East Liverpool High School, she had remained in this area the rest of her life.

Early on, she had worked at the former Crucible Steel Corporation until becoming a Headstart teacher at the Community Resource Center, where she mentored and cared for countless area children. Considered to be the “neighborhood mom”, she treated all the kids as her very own, whether it was listening to their problems or making sure they had a solid meal.

She was a longtime and active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she was superintendent of the Sunday school.

Jeannette leaves behind her loving family: two brothers, Thom B. Bell of Kent, Ohio and Jerry Bell and his wife, Brenda, of Southville, Michigan.

Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews, including Cynthia Jones, Troy Jones, Kiawna Jones, Shayne Jones, Jasmine Jones, Sierra Arter, Brianna Arter, Tyree Vantilburg, Brooklyn Vantilburg, Tatyanna Vantilburg, Tonika Vantilburg, Belinda Jackson and a host of other loving family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and her twin sister Janet Bell, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Edna Browne and Amy Dolly Jones as well as six brothers: Charlie Bell, John Bell, Ernest Bell, Gene Bell, Joseph Bell and Ravanna Bell. She was also preceded by two nephews, John Bell, Jr. and George P. Jones, III.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016.

Services will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, with Rev. Rolland L. Owens, Sr. officiating.

Jeannette will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
