James Gustav “Jim” Kirchheimer, 77

EAST LIVERPOOL - James Gustav “Jim” Kirchheimer, of Irish Ridge Road, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at his home. He was 77.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, March 7, 1940, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Jones Kirchheimer. A member of the U.S. Army, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served from 1959 to 1962 and then was active with the U.S. Army Reserves until 1965. He was an active member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church. Jim also held membership in the American Legion Post 736 and the VFW Post 66.

For over 30 years Jim was a driver for Leaseway Auto Carriers. He was a private pilot and a Certified Flight Instructor.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. Kirchheimer, at home. There are two daughters, Karla Fleming and her husband, Dwayne, of East Liverpool, and Dora “Beth” Purton and her husband, Ted, of East Liverpool, as well as a son Paul Kirchheimer and his wife, Shan, of North Carolina. He will also be sadly missed by seven grandchildren.

Rev. Dr. Vel Vais of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
