Obituary for Jerrold D. Mason

Jerrold “Pete” Mason, of 9th Avenue, LaCroft, passed away Thursday morning, March 27, 2014, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 77.

Born in East Liverpool, May 6, 1936, he was a son of the late Robert Delmar and Susan Thomas Mason. A resident of this area all his life, he served with the U.S. Army. He attended the LaCroft Church of the Nazarene and was an avid golfer.

He worked at the former Golden Star Dairy and later worked at Nickles Bakery until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Mattern Mason. The couple married March 15, 1960. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Holtzman, Mary Deyarmon, Elene Hoffmans, Ruth Mason, and June Ward, along with four brothers, William Mason, Willard Mason, Robert Mason, and Richard Mason.

A daughter survives, Trudy L. Mason, as well as three sons, Terry L. Mason, and his wife Darlene, Jerry A. “Wink” Mason, and Brian D. Mason, and his wife Rhonda, all of East Liverpool. There are five grandchildren: Brandy N. Jackson, Riley Ann Mason, Christopher D. Jones, Ashley N. Mason, and Cena M. Mason; and one great-grandchild, Torrin James Myers.

He is also survived by two sisters, Theda S. Mason of East Liverpool, and Ester Williams of Canton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.
