Obituary for Barbara Jo Williams (Thomas)

Barbara Jo (Thomas) Williams, 63, slipped into eternal rest from her home on Murphy Hill Road in Industry at 8:00 Thursday evening, January 1, 2015. Barbara, who was 63, was surrounded at the time of her death by her loyal and loving family.

Born in East Liverpool on November 7, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Kathryn “Katie” Connell Thomas Mills and Eugene Thomas. Living all her life in the Tri-State area, Barb was a proud graduate of East Liverpool High School and attended The Ohio State University. She received an associate degree from Ohio Valley School of Technology in the field of medical assistance, working in her career briefly prior to her illness.

Known for her quick wit, eloquent turn of phrase and playful sense of social engagement, Barbara brought humor to all those she touched. Planning social gatherings and entertaining loved ones brought her the greatest satisfaction and joys in life.

Barb took great pride in becoming the wife of Joseph W. Williams in 1982, building a home and family life together with her soulmate and best friend. One of life’s most rewarding achievements for Barb was the gift and joy of motherhood. She leaves a son, Zac Williams and Tamela Stewart, of Industry, and a daughter, Whitney A. Williams Wright and her husband, William, of Bellvue, PA. Most recently she was blessed to become a grandmother, affectionately known as “BB” to her beautiful granddaughters, Reagan Williams and London Autumn Wright, whom she cherished.

In addition, Barb leaves her loving sister, Jennifer Mills Soldano and her husband, Joseph, along with her two very special nieces, Kristen and Gina Soldano. A brother, Charles “Charlie” Harris also survives, as well as many, many friends.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Tamela Stewart, Judy Williams and family, and Lee and Dawn Williams and family for their unwavering support and generosity through Barb’s journey. The magnitude and force of spiritual blessings gifted to Barb will forever be remembered with gratitude.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Cordell Fountain of First Baptist Church in Midland as the celebrant.

Barb will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Those wishing to do so may send memorial contributions to VITAS Hospice Care, 235 Alpha Drive, Suite 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
