Obituary for David M. Mellinger Jr.

DAVID M. MELLINGER, JR., 40

EAST LIVERPOOL – Beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend David M. Mellinger, Jr., of Dale Street in Calcutta, passed away suddenly at 12:21 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 40.

Born on April 16, 1975 in East Liverpool, he was a son of David M. Mellinger, Sr. and Eileen Campbell Mellinger of Calcutta. A 1993 graduate of Beaver Local High School, he spent his lifetime in this area and had been a bus driver for Beaver Local Schools until recent health issues forced his early retirement.

Raised in the Apostolic church, his family meant everything to him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived at home by his wife, Christie L. Mellinger, whom he married on June 8, 1996. Dave and Christie took great pride in raising their children, David M. Mellinger III and Danielle L. Mellinger, who survive at home.

Also surviving is his sister, Betty Patterson and her companion, Michael Boyd, and their daughter Maggie Patterson, of Calcutta, as well as his in-laws, Daniel and Scherrie Stewart of Chester. His grandmother, Helen Stewart, of Chester, also survives.

Dave was preceded in death by another sister, Esther Mellinger.

Pastor Darrick Kelley of Point of Mercy Apostolic Church will officiate at services to be held at the Dawson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
