Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Jividen (Wozniak)

ELIZABETH A. “LIBBY” JIVIDEN, 85

NEWELL – Elizabeth A. “Libby” Jividen, who served as the front office manager at the Dawson Funeral Home for over 26 years, passed away following a lingering illness on Thursday morning, December 24, 2015. She was 85, and died while surrounded by her loving family.

Libby was born at her home in Newell on November 18, 1930, a daughter of the late John and Aniela Liska Wolski Wozniak. She had spent her lifetime in this area, and for over 60 years, she made her home on Grant Street in Newell with her husband, Delmar. Following their marriage on September 4, 1950, she and “Del” raised their family together and enjoyed the closeness of their children and grandchildren. Libby was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She had attended St. Aloysius School and was graduated from Wells High School in Newell in 1949. Libby then began working in the office at Homer Laughlin China prior to joining the Hartt Auditing Company in East Liverpool. In June of 1968, she became affiliated with the Dawson Funeral Home and was not only the familiar face of comfort and encouragement there, but was also the “hub of the wheel” in the office, in addition to serving as the administrative assistant for both Frank A. and Frank C. Dawson until her retirement in 1994. She was also a member of the company Board of Directors.

She had completed coursework at the National Foundation of Funeral Service in Evanston, IL, and was a member of Business and Professional Women in East Liverpool. Libby also belonged to the Newell Women’s Club, along with numerous other civic and social organizations. She was well-known for her generous nature, her radiant smile, her genuine love of people, as well as the professional and personal touch she added to everything she did. She was a talented cook who created a warm and loving home for family and friends whom she made special.

Libby will be missed by her husband, “Del”, whom she married on September 4, 1950, as well as her three daughters and one son: Beverly Enochs and her husband, Jerry, of Newell; Cynthia “Cindy” Jividen, also of Newell; Jan Gardill of Chantilly, VA; and Attorney David A. Jividen and his wife, Betsy, of Wheeling.

There are eight grandchildren: Chris Enochs and his wife, Jennifer; Jason Enochs and his wife, Trisha; Matt Jividen; Tyler Jividen; Joe Jividen; Caitlin Jividen; Sam Gardill; and Claire Gardill, as well as four great-grandchildren: Reece, Macey, Brice and Cade Enochs and extended family members. Her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy in life.

In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her siblings: Helen Valoppi, Kate Mercer, Frank Wolski, Ann Wolski, Stan Wolski, Valeria Burch, John Wolski, Henry Wolski and Pete Wozniak.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, where the family will be present from 1 to 7 p.m.

Father Eric Antwi of the church will preside at Catholic Funeral Rites to be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Libby will be laid to rest at Locust Hill Cemetery in Newell, after which time family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.
