TRAVELERS REST, SOUTH CAROLINA - Elvy Dale Dillon, 71, a former East Liverpool resident passed away at his home in Travelers Rest, South Carolina on June 20, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 20, 1949 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of Homer Clarence and Esther Lee (Underwood) Dillon.
Elvy graduated from East Liverpool High School, class of 1968. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After the war, he joined the East Liverpool Police Department where he achieved the rank of Captain and retired in 1997. He was a loyal member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a life member of the VFW Post 6450, Chester West Virginia a member of American Legion Post 77, Hendersonville, North Carolina and Elks Lodge 1616 in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
After living a life of service, he spent his retirement years doing the things that he loved most. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors exploring the many waterfalls near his home as well as many trips to the beach in South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife Marianne (Cataldo) whom he married in 1979, a brother H. Clyde Dillon and a sister Erma Rosalee (Dillon) Mead.
Surviving in addition to his wife Jodi (Fisher) Dillon are his son Matthew Anthony Dillon of Lisbon; his daughters Kimberley Dawn Cross and her husband Lewis of Dellroy, and Danielle Marie Dillon and her husband Jeremy Lydic of Youngstown; step-children Matthew Dine, Julie Kreiser and Jaimie Ridley; four grandchildren, Brynne Alexandra Cross, Gavin Cross, Torryn Cross and Kaylee McKenzie; two step grandchildren, Nevaeh Dine and Lucas Kreiser; one sister, P. Beth Morgan and her husband Greg of Massillon; his mother in laws, Betty Fisher and Helen Cataldo. Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his fur babies Fred, Abby and Lucy.
A private, family service will be held at Dawson Funeral Home, 215 W. 5th Street, East Liverpool, in compliance with COVID-19 Ohio guidelines. Burial to follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
