Hilton F. Linville, 89

EAST LIVERPOOL – Hilton F. Linville, of Palissey Street, died at the Calcutta Health Care Center on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 11:45 p.m. Born in Griffithville, Lincoln County, WV, on March 12, 1926, he was a son of the late Calloway and Betsy Yeager Linville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on May 11, 2000 by his wife of 56 years, Lucille Linkous Linville, whom he married on January 27, 1944.

Mr. Linville came to East Liverpool in 1947 and began working at the former Crucible Steel Company in December of that year. Retiring in 1982 after 34 years, he was foreman in the Brick Department. Hilton was a member of Steelworkers 1212, CIO, and had attended the Beechwood Free Methodist Church.

Surviving him is a daughter, Betty Croxall of East Liverpool, and a son, Jack D. Linville, and his wife Kathy, of Calcutta, as well as six grandchildren: Christina May, and her husband Don, of Perris, CA, Todd Croxall, and his wife Crystal, of Salem and Stacy Lenton, and her husband Matt, of Salem. There are six great-grandchildren, Erika and Nathan May, Carter Rose, Alex and Evan Croxall and Kennedy Lenton.

Hilton was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Wallace and Morline Dingess, and seven brothers, Creed, Bobby Lee, Paul, Wandell, Billie Joe, Ottie and Cline Linville.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday, where the family will be present from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Hilton’s nephew Rev. Chuck Adkins will officiate at a service to the held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Hilton will be laid to rest beside his wife at Riverview Cemetery.
