Obituary for James H. Allmon

COLUMBIANA, OHIO – James H. “Jim” “Big Daddy” Allmon, 83, of East Liverpool passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Saint Mary’s Alzheimer Center in Columbiana after a lengthy illness.

Jim was born in East Liverpool on November 3, 1935 a son of the late George and Mary (Reeder) Allmon. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1954. Jim was a veteran of the US Army honorably serving during the Korean War. Jim was a fireman for the City of East Liverpool Fire Department retiring after 27 years of service. He also worked for Comcast Cable as an installer.

Jim was raised a Methodist. He was a member of Elks #258, East Liverpool Moose #122, American Legion Post #374 and VFW Post # 66.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, whom he married, April 23, 1959, Mary (Dyer) Allmon; two daughters Vicki Johnson and her husband Jeff of East Liverpool and Linda Rosfeld and her husband Jeff of Columbiana; three sons James H. Allmon II and his wife Joni of East Liverpool, Jeff Allmon and his wife Lori of East Liverpool and Jon Allmon and his wife Juanita of Wellsville; eight grandchildren James Allmon III, Kayla Allmon, Amanda Allmon, Jona Allmon, Stephanie Allmon, Taylor Allmon, Hunter Rosfeld and Hadleigh Allmon; six great grandchildren Logan Miller, Reagan Collins, James Allmon IV, Sofia Riveria, Elijah Venham and Amiah Christopher; three sisters Ethel Pounds of Boise, ID, Bernice Hiersekorn and her husband Mack of Boise, ID and Kathy Peganoff of Victorville, CA and brother John “Pete” Allmon of Boise, ID.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery of St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ will conduct a funeral service Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. One last stop at the East Liverpool City Fire Department where they will sound a last alarm before burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Tri State Veterans Burial Group will perform military honors at the cemetery.

Immediately following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
