Obituary for Leozie Pearson Jr.

EAST LIVERPOOL – Leozie “Leo” Pearson Jr., of Steubenville, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville. He was 72.

Born in Belle Glade, Florida, October 18, 1943, he was a son of the late Leozie Pearson Sr. and Sarah Pearson. A resident of this area most of his life, he attended Wellsville High School and was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked at the former Crucible Steel Company and later worked at J & L Steel.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Pearson, whom he married in 1964. He is also survived by a son, Leozie “T.C.” Pearson III of Steubenville, as well as a sister, Gloria Lacey and her husband, Carl, of Midland. There are also 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild surviving.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole Pearson Gomez and a sister, Dorothy “Dot” Pearson.

Rev. Rolland L. Owens Sr. will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
