Obituary for Mary Lee Johnson

Mary L. Johnson, of 1st Avenue, East Liverpool, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was 89.

Born in Minter City, Mississippi, December 18, 1924, she moved to this area in the 1940s. A member of the Second Baptist Church in East Liverpool, she was active on the Deaconess Board, secretary of the Benevolent Fund, and was a member of the Second Baptist Church Choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred E. Johnson, Sr.

There are six daughters, Willa Mae Simmons, and her husband Bennie, of Gary, Indiana, Lorain Jones, and her husband Charles, of Twinsburg, Ohio, Gloria Wilson, and her husband George, of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Shirley Ann Johnson of Niles, Ohio, Alma Jean Johnson of East Liverpool, and Janice Brown, and her husband Stuart, of Smyrna, Georgia, as well as two sons, Alfred E. Johnson, Jr. of East Liverpool, and Ron Johnson, and his wife Sonja, of Twinsburg, Ohio.

Her two sisters survive as well, Essie Dandridge of Cleveland, Ohio and Louise Burns of Chicago, Illinois, along with 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Rev. Ernest Peachey of the church will conduct a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

A family burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park on Wednesday.
