Dennis & Carol McArthur
Julie, Mimi and Family. I was most saddened when opening the Journal this morning Mary's obituary appeared. Many memories rushed in as those years at Nentwick together with all of you were reawakened. Having the privilege to work in a facility which was always far more a family home than a medical facility is something I will always treasure and remember with great fondness and gratitude.
Mary aspired to answer the same vocational call that had been her Mother's, and, when her daughters continued this tradition in turn, I'm sure she could not have been more proud.
Hers was a profoundly simple philosophy: The dignity of the aged and infirm, perhaps more than other members of the human community, must never be compromised. Rather, they deserve the same level of love, respect and uncompromising care that every loving family would offer unquestioningly to one of their own.
All who knew Mary also knew that the wellspring of her love and generosity was her deep Catholic faith, to which she remained committed unswervingly until her death. She was and remains a testimonial to how much good can flow from abiding faith. She is loved in return and will be deeply missed by those who had the good fortune to know her.
You have Carol's and my deepest condolences.
