NANCY THOMPSON DOAK, 91

East Liverpool - Nancy Thompson Doak, 91, a lifetime resident of East Liverpool, Ohio was reunited with her husband, Arthur, when she passed away Friday afternoon, May 9, 2014 with her family by her side.
Nancy, the daughter of the late Margaret Milligan and George Stewart Thompson, was born in East Liverpool on February 17, 1923. She was a 1940 graduate of East Liverpool High School and completed her education at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, where she majored in psychology and was a Delta Delta Delta Sorority member. On June 1, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, Art, and together they operated and later owned Milligan Hardware.
Nancy held numerous interests outside of the home. She was a member of the Dorcas Circle at the United Methodist Church, the East Liverpool Women’s Hospital Auxiliary, a past president of the Colonial Club, as well as a member of the Boards of the East Liverpool Historical Society and the Red Cross. She looked forward to her luncheons with her friends, ‘The Birds’. She was passionate about her golf game until it was replaced by her love for bridge. Nancy was a voracious reader and also a terrific cook. There wasn’t a recipe she wouldn’t try.
Nancy will be sadly missed by her sons Artie and Dave (Becky), grandchildren Amy Doak-Koski (Jay), Abby Buttermore (Justin), Kyle Doak (Amy) and Drew Doak (Andrea) and her eleven great grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Gardner Thompson, sister, Mary Sue Buechler, daughter-in-law Lynda, and great grandson Anderson Doak.
The family greatly appreciates the tender care she received at both Crossroads at Beaver Creek and Calcutta Community Healthcare Center.
Friends and Family may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the Rev.
