Obituary for Lillian R. Briggs (Hanselman)

Lillian R. Briggs, of Myler Road, East Liverpool, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at her home following a short illness. She was 96.

Born in East Liverpool, November 5, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Ted and Esther Amos Hanselman. A resident of this area all her life, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Triangle Seniors. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Thomas A. Briggs, preceded her in death in 1990. The couple married January 23, 1935. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas W. Briggs, two grandsons, Thomas Robert Briggs and Josh Bowyer, as well as two brothers, Sterling Hanselman and William Hanselman.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Lee Kelly of Mercer, Pennsylvania, a sister, Beverly Ade of Calcutta, along with four grandchildren, Brenda Bell of Richmond Va., Lynn Ann Bowyer of New Castle Pa., Duane Bowyer of Carrolton Ohio, Pamela Smith of Carrolton , Ohio and a special great-grandson David Bowyer of Mercer Pa. Other survivors include 9 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted by Ruling Elder Tom Enochs Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.
