CHESTER, WV – Donna J. Cooper Whitla, of Chester, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She was 75.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, January 16, 1940, she was a daughter of John and Goldie Pavinia Konchan. She was graduated from Johnstown Vocational Technical School where she earned her LPN certification. She worked at the former East Liverpool Extended Care, Adkins Care Center and the Calcutta Health Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bert William Cooper, as well as her second husband, Harold E. Whitla. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Connie Charles and a brother, John Konchan.
Survivors include three sons, Scott A. Cooper, and his wife Susan, of Wellsville, Jeffrey C. Cooper, and his wife Karen, of Chester, and Dwayne E. Cooper, and his wife Lori, of Chester. There are 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
There is a step-daughter, Carol Hoyt, of East Liverpool, and two step-sons, Gary Whitla, and his wife Marsha, of Wellsville, and James Whitla, and his wife Toni, of East Liverpool.
She also leaves three sisters, Betty Gelles, Margie Ryba, and her husband John, and Mary Findley, along with a brother, Anthony Konchan, and his wife Carol, all of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens.
